ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man is set to be charged with assault after Rochester Police say he was intoxicated and injured an officer on Dewey Avenue near Costar Street.
Police say the man, 24, was walking in the middle of the road on Wednesday around 11:20 p.m. According to RPD, when the officer was trying to detain him for mental health reasons, the man fought with and injured the officer in the lower body.
An ambulance took the man and the officer to the hospital for treatment. The officer is expected to recover.
