HILTON, N.Y. — A fire truck returning from an emergency call was hit by a car at the intersection of North Avenue (Route 259) and Curtis Road around 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Hilton-Parma Fire District.
Fire Engine 262 was traveling south on Route 259 with the right of way when a passenger vehicle heading west on Curtis Road entered the intersection and collided with the truck, the fire district said. Five volunteer firefighters were on board the engine at the time.
Despite significant damage to both vehicles, no firefighters were hurt. All four people in the car were checked out at the scene but declined to go to the hospital after signing refusal forms.
Additional Hilton Fire units, Monroe Ambulance and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to secure the scene and assess those involved. The crash remains under review.
