IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — The man found shot April 9 on St. Paul Boulevard died Tuesday, according to the Irondequoit Police Department. The victim, identified as William Lundy, 50, of Rochester, was pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m.
The case is now being investigated as a homicide, and the man charged with assault in the shooting — Armon Jamal Benefield, 26, of Irondequoit — now faces other charges.
Police say a fight near the corner of St. Paul Boulevard and Second Street led up to the shooting at about 8:44 p.m. Thursday night. A 911 dispatch call said at least 10 shots were fired during the fight, and someone was shot. However, when officers arrived around 8:45 p.m., everyone had left. A person flagged down an officer to get help, and the officer applied a tourniquet to Mr. Lundy. According to IPD, Lundy underwent surgery at the hospital.
The investigation remains active, according to Irondequoit Police.
