The Druid City Arts Festival gave local artists an opportunity to showcase their work, alongside live music and food in Government Plaza on Friday.
Each artist had a booth with artwork ranging from fiber, jewelry, clay, woodworking, photography and more.
Jeff Hughes, an artist from Hoover, Alabama, has been selling and presenting his work for three years.
“I painted oils and acrylics, but the mixed media are glass seed beads, and they’re set in epoxy,” he said. “I’ve developed this on my own. I’ve been an artist my whole life.”
EclectArt Studios, run by Mike and Jan Sherwood, was a booth that featured two-dimensional works. EclectArt Studios has been a part of the festival for around five years.
“We’re inspired by nature, fantasy and surrealism. There’s also mindfulness in this and spirituality,” Mike Sherwood said. “We like to extend that into our art, and hopefully it touches somebody.”
Gina Noelle of G. Noelle Designs said she uses upcycled materials to make her products. Within her display, she had headbands, coats and bandanas.
“My daughter inspired me nine years ago, making headbands for her,” Noelle said. “It turned into using T-shirt material into quilt material, and using every bit of the material and making lots of different items with it.”
The live musicians also had a lineup and performance schedule, with different groups playing until the end of the festival both days. Food vendors ranging from trucks to tents offered an array of food items to enjoy while walking around the festival.
“The thing about this festival is it’s gathered together a bunch of fantastic artists,” Mike Sherwood said.
