HORNELLSVILLE, N.Y. — A 59-year-old woman from Allegany is facing charges after State Police say she misappropriated funds while working at a senior living facility in Steuben County.
Brenda Buck is charged with grand larceny and falsifying business records. State Police say they first got a report on March 26 for suspected fraud and larceny at a senior living facility in the Town of Hornellsville.
The report stemmed from a corporate audit that showed irregularities involving a facility’s cash account used for resident transactions, State Police say.
Between March 2025 and March 2026, State Police say Buck misappropriated about $46,020 while being responsible for managing resident financial accounts at the facility. They also say it is believed Buck falsified business records and forged the signatures of residents to hide the thefts.
Around 30 residents were identified as being affected, according to State Police.
Troopers arrested Buck on March 31 after being found by members of the Hornell Bureau of Criminal Investigation. She was processed and brought to the Steuben County Jail.
