Forward Alyssa Thomas is finalizing a deal to return to the Phoenix Mercury, according to ESPN’s Sean Hurd.
The six-time WNBA All-Star originally became an unrestricted free agent following the Mercury’s defeat in the 2025 WNBA Finals.
After 11 seasons with the Connecticut Sun, Thomas along with forward Satou Sabally, center Kalani Brown and guard Sevgi Uzun were traded to Phoenix in Feb. 2025 as part of a four-team deal. The package included guard Sophie Cunningham.
Thomas averaged 15.4 points (53.2% shooting), 9.2 assists and 8.8 rebounds per game in 2025, earning both an All-Star nod and her third All-WNBA First Team appearance.
Her 16.9 points, nine rebounds, 8.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game on 50% shooting during the postseason helped Phoenix reach the WNBA Finals for the 11th time in franchise history.
The Mercury return to the hardwood on April 25 in a preseason game against the Chicago Sky in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The 2026 regular season begins for Phoenix with a WNBA Finals rematch in Las Vegas versus the defending champion Aces on May 9.
