ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The union representing healthcare workers at Rochester General Hospital is growing in its membership.
Around 290 technical medical workers at RGH voted to organize under the Rochester Union of Nurses and Allied Professionals (RUNAP). The National Labor Relations Board held the 145-54 vote on Monday. The group includes respiratory therapists, radiology technologists, surgical technologists, medical lab technicians, licensed practical nurses, and physical and occupational therapy assistants.

In addition, around 80 healthcare workers at 11 Rochester Regional Health urgent care facilities have filed for a union election on whether to join RUNAP. That group includes physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses. The union says no election date has been scheduled yet.
Healthcare workers at RGH voted to unionize in July of 2022. They reached their first-ever contract in October of 2023.
