Marie Ann Newberry Sneed, was born on June 6, 1945, in Lafayette, Tennessee, and she passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at her residence in Haydenburg, at the age of 80. Marie lived a life marked by faith, devotion, hard work, and loving service to others.

Marie was a Christian and a faithful member of Beech Grove Church of Christ. Her life reflected the values she held dear, and she was known as a woman whose heart was full of service until the very end. She gave generously of her time, her hands, and her spirit, and she touched many lives through her kindness and steady presence. Marie was the kind of person who made others feel cared for, welcomed, and remembered.

Throughout her life, Marie served in many roles, each one carried out with dedication and grace. She worked as a seamstress, quilter, gardener, mail carrier, store clerk, homemaker, high school cook, and Head Start cook. No matter the task, she approached it with a strong work ethic and a willingness to help wherever she was needed. Her hands were rarely idle, and her life was a beautiful example of faithful labor and quiet strength. She found joy in caring for her home, tending her garden, and creating things that brought comfort and beauty to others.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband of fifty years, LT Sneed, whom she married on January 8, 1965, and who passed away on January 28, 2015, and by her brother, Preston Newberry Jr. Her passing marks the end of a long and devoted earthly journey, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

She is survived by her son, Barry Sneed and his wife Emily of Haydenburg, Tennessee, and her daughter, Lisa Bartley and her husband Mark of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Cason Sneed of Haydenburg, Tennessee, Jesse Bartley of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, and Alexis White and her husband Allen of Carthage, Tennessee. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann White of Carthage, Tennessee, and Charlotte Ruth White of Carthage, Tennessee. Marie also leaves behind special friends who were dear to her heart, Mary Brown, Jody Kamptner, and Rosa “Tootie” Jones all of Whitleyville, Tennessee.

Marie will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was rooted in faith and family. She had a gentle spirit and a servant’s heart, and she was always willing to do for others without seeking recognition. Those who knew her will remember her warm smile, her steadfast nature, and the comfort of her presence. Her life was a testimony to perseverance, humility, and love.

Family and friends will cherish the many memories they shared with Marie and will hold close the example she set through her daily life. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and devotion that will continue to inspire those who knew her best. Though she will be deeply missed, her loved ones take comfort in knowing that her earthly journey is complete and that she is now at peace.
