NASA Wildcat Aquatics’ Alicia Budacsek has verbally committed to the University of California, Los Angeles Bruins, beginning in the fall of 2027.
I am extremely excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic journey at UCLA! I am very grateful for my family’s endless love, support, and encouragement. I want to thank Coach Alessio and Coach Jeff for always helping me and pushing me to become the best version of myself. To my teammates, thank you for being the best team ever. I would not be where I am without you all. Finally, a special thank you to Coach Jordan, Coach Graham, and Coach Bex for believing in me and welcoming me into the Bruin family–I can hardly wait! GO BRUINS!!!
Budacsek hails from Wilmette, Ill., and represented and competed at the Speedo Winter Junior Championships West in December. There, she earned one finals appearance, finishing 16th in the 200 breast in 2:16.76. In the prelims of that event, she clocked a career best 2:15.71, qualifying her 13th for the final. She also swam a best time in the 100 breast at these championships, touching 25th overall in 1;02.95.
She also has some IM skill, having been as fast as 2:04.85 in the 200 IM at the 2025 NCSA Spring Championships. Budacsek has also clocked a fastest 400 IM time of 4:31.61 at the January Annual A+ Meet.

100 Breast: 1:02.95 200 Breast: 2:15.71 200 IM: 2:04.85 400 IM: 4:31.61The UCLA women finished 7th out of 14 teams at the 2026 Women’s Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships.
The breaststroke events helped the Bruins earn 55 points at those championships. Based on her best times, Budacsek would have finished 30th in the 200 breast, 34th in the 100 breast, and 39th in the 200 breast at those championships.
She still sits well outside the scoring range at Big Tens, but with more than a full year to develop and improve on those times, she could very well get within that projected top 24 range at the Big Ten Championships.
Budacsek joins Lilla Kapinya (sprint free), Cadence Johnson (mid-distance IM/fly), Andi Taylor (sprint free), Karina Conover Hui (fly), and Alison Su (free) in the 2027 recruiting class for the Bruins.
