The letter was from the same person who sent ransom notes to the outlet in February, TMZ reported. This time, though, the person demanded 1 Bitcoin in exchange for information about the location of Nancy's body. They asked for half before the information was shared and half after a public arrest.
"The timing is the first red flag," he told Parade. "These notes resurface the same morning Savannah Guthrie walks back on television. Real witnesses don’t track the news cycle. Opportunists do."
Additionally, the former FBI agent pointed out, "The letters contradict themselves. The sender claims to have seen Nancy alive in Sonora, Mexico, but also says she is dead. How do they know? Need more specifics…not the contradicting bits of generic statements."

Nancy was last seen at her Catalina Foothills residence on the evening of Jan 31. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department launched its search for Nancy on Feb. 1, with the FBI joining the investigation not long afterward. As of writing, no suspect has been named in the case, despite Savannah offering a $1 million reward.
