GORHAM, N.Y. — A Gorham man is facing a new charge after Ontario County sheriff’s deputies say he had four dogs in his home, despite being banned from having dogs due to a pending animal cruelty case.
Back in November, a Town of Seneca judge ordered Ralph Priest, 55, not to have any dogs in his home while the case was being decided. It comes after investigations said they rescued 33 dogs belonging to Priest from “deplorable conditions” in a home in the Town of Seneca.
Deputies say they found four more dogs in the camper on his property in Gorham when they searched on a warrant last Monday night. The dogs were taken to the Ontario County Humane Society and are being evaluated by the veterinary team.
Priest was charged with criminal contempt and will answer to his new charge in Gorham Town Court. The dogs will be put up for adoption.
