Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly decided during the weekly cabinet meeting that the closing time for public shops, shopping malls, restaurants, and other establishments will be 11 pm instead of nine pm, starting from Friday, April 10, until Monday, April 13.
This comes in accordance with the recommendation issued by the Central Crisis Management Committee, on the occasion of the Coptic Christian holidays.
The closure of shops, malls, restaurants, cafes, bazaars, entertainment venues, and discos will continue at nine for one month, except on Thursdays and Fridays when they will close at 10:00 pm, and on official holidays and occasions as determined by the Prime Minister.
The decision excludes the governorates of South Sinai, Luxor, and Aswan, the cities of Hurghada and Marsa Alam in the Red Sea, and tourist establishments and shops located on the Nile Riverbank in the governorates of Cairo and Giza.
It also excludes certain activities that meet the daily needs for citizens – namely pharmacies, bakeries, supermarkets, and grocery stores.
