Jersey Shore, Pa. — Cheryl Lynne Fields, 57, of Jersey Shore, a former resident of Brush Creek, Tenn. and longtime resident of Casselberry, Fla. passed peacefully, Sunday March 29, 2026 surrounded by family.
Born on Nov. 1, 1968 in Williamsport, she was the beloved daughter of Alton W. Harmon and Jacqueline (Tietbohl) Harmon. Cheryl’s passing came only five days after the loss of her father, Alton on March 24, 2026. Their close bond in life makes their parting in such close time especially heartbreaking for those who loved them both.
She was a 1987 graduate of Oviedo High School in Florida and continued her education at the University of Central Florida, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science.
Cheryl was a dedicated and faithful participant in the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She served in numerous leadership roles throughout the state of Florida, including positions on the Executive Board, the local Advisory Board, and as a Pledge Mother. She was honored as the first recipient of the Miss Service Award for the State of Florida and, during her time as a Rainbow Girl, also served as a State Officer. Her commitment to service and mentorship left a lasting impact on many young women.
She built a meaningful career in telecommunications, working for several companies over the years, including Sprint/Nextel. It was here, through a mutual friend, Cheryl met the love of her life, Desmond J. Fields. Together, they shared more than 20 years of love, laughter, and adventure. The couple was married on Oct. 7, 2012 in beautiful Savannah, Ga., surrounded by family and friends. Their life together was filled with travel, friendly rivalries cheering for opposing football teams, and making their final home in Tennessee. They enjoyed exploring Nashville and the surrounding areas and especially loved searching for the best barbecue and the perfect bushwacker cocktail.
With Cheryl by his side, Desmond preceded her in death at their home in Tennessee on Nov. 29, 2023. Since his passing, Cheryl longed to be reunited with him, and it brings comfort to know she was welcomed at Heaven’s gates into his loving embrace, ready to walk hand in hand into their next adventure, alongside their beloved dogs, Barney and Archie.
Cheryl had a love for NASCAR and was an enthusiastic fan of both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Yankees. She cherished time spent with her family and friends. Known for her contagious laugh and joyful spirit, Cheryl could often be found laughing until tears filled her eyes. She was a well-known prankster who delighted in a good joke, especially if she was the one behind it. Above all, Cheryl had a rare gift for connecting with others; she could strike up a conversation with anyone and quickly turn a stranger into a friend. Her warmth, kindness, and vibrant personality will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her mother, Jacqueline (Tietbohl) Harmon of Jersey Shore; her fur son, Larry; her loving aunts and uncle, Donald Tietbohl and his wife, Ellen of York, Linda Harbach of Larryville and Denise Bergenstock of Williamsport; and an abundance of cousins who, over the years, became more like siblings, nieces, and nephews, sharing a bond that went far beyond extended family.
In addition to her beloved husband and father, Cheryl was preceded in death by her cherished dogs, Barney and Archie.
A memorial service to honor Cheryl’s life will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, April 19, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service Sunday at Sanders. Private interment in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery, will be held at the convenience of the family.
