ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The “Today Show” recognized Good Friday with a story of twin brothers and pastors inspired by scripture to overcome great odds.

One of those brothers is a leader in the Rochester community, Robert Williams, the incoming CEO of Open Door Mission. Robert and his brother Richard both struggled with addiction in their early years. When they reached out for help, Richard was sent to Pivot Ministries in Connecticut and Robert was sent to the Open Door Mission in Rochester.
Now, they both lead the very organizations that helped them escape addiction. They spoke with the “Today Show’s” Craig Melvin about what Easter means to them.
“The purpose of the resurrection was to defeat death. You know, Christ died and rose again so that we may have new life and have it more abundantly and our sins may be forgiven, that we would have a second chance, that we could be reconciled with God again,” Williams said. “There is a self-resurrection just by trusting and believing in the one who died for all of us.”
Open Door Mission announced Monday that Robert Williams will take over as CEO. Before that, he was vice president of operations.
