ROCHESTER, N.Y. — New York State is committing $50 million toward expanding the renewable energy workforce.
The money will be used to funding training programs and expand job opportunities. Leaders say it will help with providing hands-on opportunities.
“NYSERDA is helping prepare New Yorkers to fill high-demand careers that are essential to meet the needs of today’s clean energy economy,” NYSERDA President and CEO Doreen M. Harris said in a press release. “These programs provide hands-on training that will help build an in-state workforce to strengthen our energy independence, and contribute to a more reliable, affordable energy system.”
According to the 2025 New York Clean Energy Industry Report, the renewable energy field employed more than 184,000 people as of 2025.
