Georgia Holgate of Great Britain has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Nebraska beginning in fall 2026.
“I’m excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic journey at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Massive thank you to my new team mates for making me so welcome, the coaches Pablo and Patrick for giving me such a fantastic opportunity and to James and the team at Cambridge Swim Club for getting me here! I can’t wait to see what the future will hold. GO BIG RED!!!”Holgate swims for City of Cambridge and most recently competed at the Edinburgh International meet in Scotland, which was long course. There she swam to a 30.96 50 back, 1:04.28 100 fly, and a 2:31.93 200 fly. Her best time in the LCM 100 fly is a 1:02.50 from April 2025.
Holgate’s Best LCM Times (With SCY Conversions) Are:
100 fly: 1:02.50 (55.04)The Nebraska women finished 10th out of 14 teams at the 2026 Big Ten Championships with 433.5 points, just behind Northwestern who was 9th with 446 points. The Nebraska women were led by Gena Jorgenson who won the 1650 free in a 15:45.36. Jorgenson went on to finish 4th in the event at the 2026 NCAA Championships in a lifetime best 15:42.94.
It took a 53.24 to final in the in the 100 butterfly at the 2026 Big Ten Championships. Beatrix Tanko was the team’s only scorer in the event as she swam a 51.75 for 7th. Tanko enters her senior year this fall and is originally from Hungary.
Tanko will arrive this fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Majdouline Zahir, Mylie Bradley, Jana Härtel, Dominika Borkowska, and Meredith Peyton. It is a strong international class with Zahir from Turkey, Härtel from Germany, and Borkowska from Poland.
