South Dakota State has developed into one of the leading FCS football programs for NFL talent. Here’s a look at the Jackrabbits’ draft history.
As South Dakota State’s success in FCS football increased toward a national championship level, the NFL’s interest in the Jackrabbits grew as well.
SDSU has become more of a go-to source for potential NFL players. After having only one player selected in the draft previously in the 21st century, their program had seven picks from 2018 to 2024, with many more players signed to NFL rosters.
A difference-maker? South Dakota State, which joined the FCS in 2004, has qualified for the FCS playoffs in every season since 2012, reaching at least the semifinal round seven times in an eight-season span (2017-24), and winning two FCS national championships.
