An 8-year-old girl was among three people hurt when gunfire rang out in the Douglas neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, police said.
According to a Chicago police spokesperson, the three individuals were in the 3400 block of South King Drive just before 5 p.m. when a person in a dark-colored SUV opened fire.
The young girl was struck in the foot by a gunshot, and was taken to an area hospital in fair condition, police said.
Two other victims were also shot, including a 24-year-old man, who was hit in the arm, chest and groin. A 28-year-old woman was struck in the knee by gunfire.
Chicago police say all three victims were taken to area hospitals in good condition.
No further information was immediately available, and an investigation is underway.
