UTICA, N.Y. — Jury deliberations will continue Wednesday in the trial of a former corrections officer charged with murder.
No verdict was reached Tuesday in Oneida County Court. Former corrections officer Jonah Levi is charged with murder, manslaughter and gang assault in the death of Messiah Nantwi.
Jurors heard from a former corrections officer who testified that Levi stomped on Nantwi’s head three to six times last March at Mid-State Correctional Facility. The inmate did nothing to justify it, the witness said.
Nantwi’s father was at the courthouse Tuesday waiting for a possible verdict.
Deliberations continue Wednesday at 10 a.m.
