2026 Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Boys State Open Championships

March 12-14, 2026 New Haven, CT SCY (25 yards) Results 

It was a dazzling dozen for Greenwich boys at the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) State Open Championships.

Greenwich claimed its 12th straight state championship and 40th overall, nearly doubling up the total of runner-up Fairfield College Prep.

The CIAC combines the top 24 finishers from each of the four class meets into one overall championship meet.

Greenwich was led by senior Colin Bucaria, who won the 100 breast in 58.02, just a tenth off his best time, and also set a new PB en route to finishing as the runner-up in the 200 IM (1:54.29).

Bucaria also split 46.44 on the third leg to help Greenwich win the 400 free relay in a time of 3:08.63. Other team members were Hunter Bodey (48.68), Wim McCarthy (47.02) and Charlie Koen (46.29).

The individual standout was EO Smith/Tolland senior Ben Pope, a Bucknell commit.

Pope claimed both sprint freestyle events, winning the 50 free in a time of 20.63 after taking 2nd last year. He then repeated as champion in the 100 free with a time of 45.20.

Other event winners were:

Wilton won the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:35.59 behind the team of Ozzy Andrews (25.16), Sam Jacobson (26.27), Lucas Fontana (23.01) and Hirsh Iyer (21.15). Middletown senior Cole Strickland claimed the 200 free in a personal best time of 1:39.40. Bolton senior David Korzeniowski won the 200 IM in a time of 1:54.01. Darien senior Jake Simon was the champion in 1-meter diving, winning with 552.50 points. Notre Dame junior Julian Adu captured the 100 fly in a time of 49.77. Jack Ackerman, a junior for William Hall, won the 500 free in 4:36.17. Fairfield College Prep won the 200 free relay in a time of 1:25.87 behind the team of David Kavasansky (22.15), Evan VanVelzor (21.61), Andy Thing (21.80) and Jack Cunningham (20.31). VanVelzor, a junior at Fairfield College Prep, claimed the 100 back in a time of 50.89.
