ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Starting today, we will have a multiday warming trend that peaks on Tuesday. We begin chilly however, with morning temperatures near freezing, but we will rise to the low 50s among mostly cloudy skies. Tonight will be less cold with lows in the upper 30s.
Monday sees the mostly cloudy skies sticking around, but southwest flow will continue to warm us up all the way to near 60 degrees. Tuesday, the warmth continues… There is still uncertainty in just how warm we get, but we have a decent chance to reach 70. But with that warmth and moisture comes rain and thunder. It begins with warm front showers early in the morning, with chances for thundery downpours through the A.M. We may see a break in the afternoon and evening before a cold front passes through after nightfall. This is good news for baseball fans, as the Red Wings home opener is set for 4:05pm, but we’ll have to keep our eye on the chances for showers as there is still uncertainty in the exact timing of rain and storms which would have an impact on the game.
Behind the cold front comes much cooler air with highs on Wednesday around 50, and highs on Thursday in the low to mid 40s. Friday another low pressure system enters, giving us additional rainfall into the weekend. We may have some flooding concerns in creeks and streams as well as other flood prone areas at that time, so stay tuned.
