The 2026 SEC softball season is in full swing heading into April, and the conference once again features some of the nation’s top squads who figure to be in contention for the Women’s College World Series come summer.
The No. 20 LSU Tigers got out to a very strong start over the first month of the season, and they may have just put the conference and country on notice by picking up their biggest win of the entire season on Saturday afternoon against the No. 3-ranked Oklahoma Sooners.
The Sooners entered Saturday’s contest riding a 22-game win streak and were coming off a 3-2 win against LSU on Friday night, but the Bayou Bengals bounced back in the second leg of the series to snap Oklahoma’s win streak and pick up their first win against the Sooners in 11 years.

— SEC Network (@SECNetwork) March 28, 2026Oklahoma has been the gold standard in college softball over the past 15 years, collecting 7 national championships in that span, including a 4-peat from 2021-2024. They’ve run roughshod over just about every opponent they’ve faced over the past several years, and that included the Tigers.
LSU can finally put that losing streak to rest, though, as they finally got the proverbial monkey off their back with the 3-1 win on Saturday, and they will have a chance to extend that streak in the rubber match on Sunday.
