TEMPE — Max Iheanachor’s NFL Draft stock has skyrocketed in the last few months, and the Arizona State offensive tackle appeared to make a big fan out of New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel during Friday’s pro day.
The 6-foot-6, 321-pound lineman was tasked with technique work against Vrabel, himself, during positional work. The Patriots coach is more than 15 years removed from a 14-year NFL career as a linebacker, which apparently isn’t long enough to lose the itch for physicality.

The connection continued into conversations after the drills, the NFL head coach asking questions about Iheanachor’s family. This coming after the two sides met following the NFL Draft Combine.

“He likes being hands-on, but when he was out there, I just treated him like anybody else,” Iheanachor said, adding that Vrabel had some good pointers. “I was just dominating, letting him feel me. It was definitely fun, for sure.”
New England has the 31st pick, second to last in the first round. NFL.com’s Charles Davis mocked the OT to the Patriots on Thursday.

Iheanachor said it’s been “one hell of an experience” seeing his stock rise to being a potential first-round pick.
Impressive Senior Bowl and Combine showings — which included a 40-yard dash time that was .01 second away from a position record — solidified the work he did in the fall with no sacks and just three QB hits allowed across 482 pass-blocking snaps, per PFF.
He arrived at ASU for the 2023 season after two seasons of JUCO ball at East Los Angeles College, which were the first two seasons of football in his life. He came to the United States from Nigeria at age 13.
Jordyn Tyson speaks with Cam Skattebo, Giants
First-year New York Giants coach Jim Harbaugh was in attendance with GM Joe Schoen, seen at one point chopping it up with Jordyn Tyson, who could be in play for New York at No. 5. Cam Skattebo was also there, likely egging on his front office for a reunion.

The Patriots, Cardinals and Giants were among 31 teams in Tempe for the pro day, with only one team out.
The Atlanta Falcons, who notably do not pick until No. 48, were especially well-represented between GM Ian Cunningham, president of football Matt Ryan and head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Bears GM Ryan Poles marked another top decision-maker.
