The recall was first initiated on January 19 and later classified by the FDA as a Class II recall on March 23. A Class II designation means the products could cause temporary or medically reversible health consequences.
The recall is due to the possible presence of metal fragments. The company determined the source to be roasted tomatoes supplied by one of its ingredient vendors.
