We are grateful to the Ministry of Investment and authorities in the Kingdom for their guidance and support in bringing this program to life.”A Patient’s JourneyHameed Kaniyaarakkal, a 60-year-old resident of Karuvancheri in Kozhikode district, in India’s southern state of Kerala, had once struggled to even move due to a complex cancer condition.“When Hameed came to us, he had difficulty swallowing and a change in his voice. Investigations confirmed cancer, but it had not spread, so we proceeded with radiation treatment. The treatment phase was severe, and travel would normally be considered high risk for a patient like him,” said Dr. Sathish Padmanabhan, Radiation Oncologist at Aster MIMS, Kozhikode.“Through the Aman program, however, his journey was carefully planned with continuous medical oversight from his home country to Saudi Arabia, including paramedic support and real-time monitoring. He remained within a fully supervised circle of care throughout.”His journey was prepared over 22 days, followed by a 12-day pilgrimage from Kozhikode to Jeddah under continuous supervision.“During his illness, one day he got up on his own and said ‘Alhamdulillah’. From that moment, we held on to the hope that one day he would be able to perform Umrah,” said his wife, Suleiha.“The support from the doctors and medical team gave me the confidence to travel without fear. From the time I started the journey until I returned home, there was complete care,” Hameed said.During his stay, he completed the Umrah rituals and visited key sites including Mina, Muzdalifah, Safa, and Marwah.Program RolloutThe Aman program works in collaboration with travel and tourism partners including Safiya Travels and Good Hope Travels, ensuring seamless coordination across borders. Bookings for the service are set to open from April 6, with plans to extend support to patients from multiple countries and across a wide range of medical conditions.
