As A-Day inches closer, Alabama continues to put in the work during spring practice.
The Crimson Tide has named a starting tackle, Dijon Lee, and the team has received high praise from a fellow defensive back. In the meantime, a top quarterback prospect has set his spring visit.
Starting left tackle
Jackson Lloyd played in just five games during his redshirt season in 2025, but it only took the second-year offensive lineman three practices to lock up the starting left tackle spot.
“He has really stood out as a guy that we’re going to be really excited about as our left tackle,” offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb said.
Lloyd is listed at 6-foot-7 and 317 pounds. He is replacing tackle Kadyn Proctor, a three-year starter who is off to the NFL.
High praise for Dijon Lee
Dijon Lee finished 2025 as not only one of the Crimson Tide’s top defensive backs, but as a freshman All-American.
Top corner Zabien Brown expects no-different from Lee in 2026.
“I think Dijon Lee has really stepped forward,” Brown said. “I’m seeing his game really develop, and he’s starting to produce a lot more I would say.”
Like Lee, Brown was a former five-star recruit who started during his true freshman campaign. Learning from him has no doubt helped his quick ascension into a star under defensive coordinator Kane Wommack’s defense.
The rising sophomore finished 2025 with 32 total tackles, five pass deflections and two interceptions.
“I think the sky’s the limit for a guy like Dijon,” Brown said. “Things are really starting to glue together, and I can’t wait to play with him this year.”
Even with the loss of Domani Jackson to the NFL, the secondary has more returning production than any other position. The aforementioned Brown and Lee return at corner, while safety is headlined by star Bray Hubbard and Keon Sabb.
Daniel Hill going viral
Redshirt freshman Daniel Hill saw more action than fans anticipated last season, finishing as arguably the top running back on the squad by the end of the season.
The 6-foot-1, 236-pound Hill revealed that he squatted a whopping 805 pounds before the start of spring practice.
Hill’s claimed squat-max went viral on social media, and eyes have quickly shifted to the returnee as a leader in a young but talented running back room.
A-Day update
Alabama announced Monday that A-Day will officially be a two-hour scrimmage set to begin at 1 p.m. CT on April 11.
The festivities will begin at 11 a.m. with the annual Walk of Fame, where 2025 team captains — center Parker Brailsford, defensive lineman Tim Keenan III, linebacker Deontae Lawson and quarterback Ty Simpson — will officially make their forever mark at Denny Chimes.
The Walk of Champions will take place at 12:45 p.m. and the first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative poster.
Recruiting visits
Perhaps the most important part of A-Day isn’t even the festivities themselves — it’s the upcoming return visit for the nation’s top quarterback recruit, Elijah Haven.
Haven, a Louisiana native, passed for nearly 4,000 yards and a state-record 62 touchdowns in his junior season. He also added 11 scores on the ground.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound signal caller announced Alabama among his final four schools in January, on a list that also includes Georgia, Florida and rival Auburn.
The Crimson Tide also landed its fourth commit in the class of 2027 over the weekend in tight end Oakley Keegan.
The 6-foot-7 three-star recruit chose Alabama over Vanderbilt, Boston College and Syracuse.
