Arizona State set a new school record of 1:20.07 in the 200 medley relay to take the win in the first relay event at the 2026 NCAA Championships, lowering the meet record by 0.08 seconds from the 1:20.15 that Florida swam in 2024.

They were led off by Adam Chaney in 20.35, the third-fastest split of the final heat and the fifth-fastest overall., before handing over to Andy Dobrzanski who split 23.04 on the breaststroke leg. ASU sat in 4th at the halfway point, 0.81 seconds behind Texas in 1st and just 0.24 seconds ahead of LSU in 8th.

Ilya Kharun then blazed the #2 split all-time in the 50 fly with a swim of 18.70, behind only the 18.68 he swam at midseason. Only one of the top ten swims belongs to another swimmer, as he bumps Josh Liendo‘s 2024 split of 18.97 down to 11th.

Jonny Kulow split 17-point for the second year in a row, backing up the 17.78 he swam at 2025 NCAAs with a 17.98 here. He overtook Texas’ Garrett Gould on the anchor leg, outsplitting the longhorn man by 0.60 seconds with only 0.39 seconds between the two teams at the touch.

Three of the four swimmers here were on the relay a year ago that finished 4th in 1:20.87. Adam Chaney was the difference-maker, as his 20.35 leadoff was 0.94 seconds faster than Lucien Vergnes was last year. Kharun was 0.08 seconds faster than 12 months ago, while Dobrzanski was 0.02 seconds slower and Kulow 0.20 seconds slower.

Chaney was on the previous meet record when he was at Florida, splitting 20.29. His best stands at 20.19, which ranks him as the #6 swimmer all-time

Florida were just 0.01 off their former meet record in this race in 1:20.16, and got a wicked 17.58 on the anchor from Josh Liendo which exactly matched his split from SECs. Scotty Buff was 19.06 on the fly leg to rank within the top ten all-time, and was matched to the hundredth by Tyler Ray for Michigan.

Texas got a 42.58 front half courtesy of a 20.19 leadoff from Will Modglin and a 22.39 on the breaststroke from Nate Germonprez which ranks him #5 all-time. Yamato Okadome was 22.35 to rank #4 all-time for Cal.

Kentucky and LSU had 17-point anchor legs as well, with Falemana Tuufui splitting 17.91 and Jere Hribar splitting 17.96. The four sub-18 splits in the final heat tonight is the most ever in a single heat
