While numerous storefronts have closed around the greater San Diego area in recent years, a pair of La Mesa businesses have their doors wide open for customers.
TJ Maxx and Ulta Beauty both opened for business this month at Grossmont Center.
The former, located at 8790 Grossmont Blvd., offers a signature selection of brand-name apparel, accessories, items for the home, and more.
“We’re thrilled to join the La Mesa community,” said Nancy Carpenter, president of TJ Maxx. “We look forward to providing local shoppers with an ever-changing selection of high-quality merchandise at exceptional value so they can express their true ‘maxx’ selves.”
In celebration of its new La Mesa location, TJ Maxx said it would contribute to the local community by donating $10,000 to a local charity.
The new store will also join all other stores nationwide in sponsoring Save the Children’s U.S. Programs through TJ Maxx’s annual in-store fundraising campaign.
Meanwhile, Ulta Beauty at 8788 Grossmont Blvd. provides a wide array of cosmetics, fragrances, and body, skin, and hair care options.
“The addition of Ulta and TJ Maxx will contribute to local tax revenue, create employment opportunities, and will increase consumer activity in the commercial center and surrounding areas,” La Mesa Mayor Mark Arapostathis said.
“These two large retailers deciding to establish themselves in La Mesa reinforces that our city is a desirable destination for both shopping and services.”
According to Arapostathis, the response around La Mesa to having these two businesses in the community has been overwhelmingly positive. “Residents are excited to have convenient access to well-known, quality retailers close to home,” Arapostathis added.
When asked if he hopes more businesses will be calling La Mesa home before too long, Arapostathis noted, “The City of La Mesa is a customer service-oriented and business-friendly organization…. We welcome businesses of all sizes to invest in La Mesa and support their success through responsive, efficient, and predictable processes.”
