WILLIAMSON, N.Y. — A 19-year-old man has been arrested by State Police after they say he pretended to be a bank fraud representative to get money from people.

Aidan Chan, of Hicksville, was arrested Sunday and charged with grand larceny. State Police say they responded to a complaint from someone in Williamson who said they were tricked into withdrawing $20,000 in cash under the belief their accounts were compromised.

The victim was then told to give the money to a person, later identified as Chan, who went to her home to collect the funds, according to State Police.

Investigators say Chan would take the cash and bring it to another person downstate.

Chan was arraigned in Wayne County CAP arraignment.
