A very welcome and persistent marine layer helped to keep our coastal areas cool to mild while inland areas warmed up once again. Look for more fog through the overnight and it could settle close to the ground creating visibility issues, so be careful driving. Overnight lows will dip int o the 50's for most areas with a few areas only dipping in to the low 60's. For Monday, the Central Coast will see a stronger northerly flow and that means very warm temperatures with a Heat Advisory. Temperatures will likely reach well in to the 80's and 90's with maybe a few beaches seeing just enough sea breeze to stay a bit cooler. South of Point Conception could be a bit trickier with regard to the heat potential as some fog may continue to linger right along the coast. This means we could see a few low to mid 70's along with a few 80's depending on the what the fog does. Inland areas will be very warm once again.
Looking ahead, our recent heat wave will go down as incredible and historic with records being exceeded and even smashed. The good news is that we don't expect a repeat of that next week, but things will likely stay above normal and rain appears to be off the table for the rest of March. The marine layer will linger through Sunday and Monday and then weaken through the middle and second half of the work week as high pressure builds once again. The longer the fog hangs in there, the better the chance that the beaches will be the place to beat the heat. Highs will warm back in to the 80's and 90's which means a few areas will likely see heat advisories posted. Again, we should not see a repeat of last week, but it will stay very warm and even hot as we head toward next weekend. A storm system then is forecast to approach the northern portions of our state which will cool things down slightly through the weekend. Rain chances now look very slim with maybe something showing up toward the last of the month or very beginning of April.
