GATES, N.Y. — Starting Monday, a series of overnight road closures along I-490 and State Route 531 will take place in the Town of Gates, due to intended installations of overhead signs by the New York State Department of Transportation.
On Monday at 10 p.m., I-490 westbound will be closed between I-390 and Buffalo Road, reopening at 5 a.m. on Tuesday. Then, the project will resume on Tuesday at 10 p.m. until Wednesday at 5 a.m. NYSDOT said they will have detour signs for drivers who are using Chili Avenue and State Route 204.
On Wednesday, State Route 531 westbound will be closed at the ramps to I-490 and Buffalo Road. This will go from 10 p.m. on Wednesday until Thursday at 5 a.m. I-490 and Route 33 ramps will also be closed during that timeframe. Drivers will see detour signs who use Buffalo Road and Elmgrove Road.
Lastly, on Thursday, the I-490 westbound off ramp to Exit 7A will be closed from 8 p.m. that day, and reopening on Friday at 5:30 a.m. Detour signs will be provided for drivers who use Exit 5.
The NYSDOT asks drivers to use alternate routes if necessary, and weather may impact the projects.
