ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Baden Street Settlement celebrated March Madness on Saturday with its fifth annual Buckets for Baden fundraiser.
WHECIt’s one of the main fundraisers for the nonprofit organization. People of all ages could participate in a three-point contest and raise money for Baden Believes, a capital campaign to help complete Baden Street’s new main campus building and sports and wellness center.
“Today we’re in Dr. Freddie Thomas Middle School because our current building is going under asbestos removal. We plan on tearing it down in the few months, to build a new state at our facility, but we got a $5 million dollar funding gap that we’re looking to fill, and this fundraiser helps us do that,” said Tyrese Bryant, board of directors chair at Baden Street Settlement.
Baden Street Settlement works to support youth, adults and families in Rochester to break the cycle of poverty. The organization offers services like counseling, substance abuse support and emergency family assistance.
