Although BYU forward AJ Dybantsa’s March Madness run ended after just one round, another top draft prospect made a splash in powering his squad to the second round.
Freshman Kansas combo guard Darryn Peterson, who’s been only fitfully available this season, scored 28 points on 11-of-24 shooting from the field (4-of-11 from distance), propelling the Jayhawks to a 68-60 victory over CBU on Friday.

UConn Huskies senior big man Tarris Reed Jr. joined Hall of Fame former UCLA center Bill Walton as the only collegiate players to ever score 30 or more points and grab 20 or more rebounds in an NCAA Tournament contest.
Reed notched 31 points while shooting 12-of-15 from the floor, and grabbed 27 boards to boot.

He helped the No. 2-seeded Huskies log an 82-71 win over Furman on Friday night.
Reed is generally projected to be a late second-round pick this summer, but more performances like this could move him up in the draft.

With March Madness generally heating up, our Josh Miranda has taken a look at 10 key 2026 NBA Draft prospects to watch this weekend. Check it out! Redshirt Florida center Olivier Rioux is something of a giant among giants. During the Gators’ 114-55 blowout over Prairie View A&M on Friday, his stunning 7-foot-9 frame helped him tower over 6-foot-8 Panthers forward Hassane Diallo. Rioux played all of two minutes in the contest. Odds seem good the 20-year-old will make a bigger impact next year.6'8" Hassane Diallo couldn't believe how tall 7'9" Olivier Rioux was.pic.twitter.com/HMxt4QPnsn t.co/cpMPutIfId

Former Chicago Bulls champion forward Dennis Rodman has been named to a second Hall of Fame! But head coach Billy Donovan and the players are doing their darnedest to compete. Guard Tre Jones, one of the big trade deadline holdovers, isn’t taking nights off, writes Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times. And he knows that the worst record in the league doesn’t necessarily guarantee the top pick, thanks to the draft lottery.
“I approach every game the same: To win the game,” Jones said. “I don’t listen to outside noise, the draft lottery and all that stuff. The worst teams don’t get the best pick. Last year, Dallas got the best pick as the 10th-worst team in the league.”
Former Bulls star shooting guard Coby White finds himself in familiar terrain with his new club, the Charlotte Hornets: he’s competing for a play-in spot. This time, however, he’s now back in a bench role.?️ Coby White on embracing the bench role after being a starter in Chicago: "It's an adjustment, but I just want to win. I'm excited, I'm blessed to be here, whatever role that is."

“It’s an adjustment, but I just want to win. I’m excited, I’m blessed to be here, whatever role that is,” White reflected during a postgame interview on FanDuel Sports Network Southeast. “I’ve been in every role since I’ve been in the NBA. I’ve been a starter, sixth man, ninth man, whatever you want to call it. No. 1 option, 15th option, it don’t matter. I just love to play basketball. If I get the opportunity to play and win at a high level, I’m all for it.”
While the healthy Bulls are unnecessarily competing, other tanking clubs are taking no chances. Per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Brooklyn Nets are shutting down their leading scorer, forward Michael Porter Jr., for at least the next two-to-three weeks due to a supposed left hamstring strain. Given that the 2025-26 regular season ends in three weeks, odds seem good that Porter won’t be back on the court until the fall. Scotto also reports that new Indiana Pacers center Ivica Zubac, meanwhile, has been ruled out for the rest of the year with a fractured rib, incurred during a Wednesday tilt against the Portland Trail Blazers. The former LA Clippers center appeared in just five contests for his new squad, averaging 11.6 points on 47.2 percent field goal shooting and 80 percent free throw shooting, plus 7.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.8 blocks a night.MORE FROM BLEACHER NATION: Go Ad Free | Subscribe to the BN Newsletter
