In his latest NFL Mock Draft exercise, Daniel Jeremiah sends Toledo safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren to the Chicago Bears with the No. 25 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen someone send the Bears a safety at pick No. 25. It isn’t even the first time this week we’ve seen an insider pick a safety for the Bears in a mock draft. And it isn’t the first instance in which McNeil-Warren was name-checked as someone who could be on the Bears’ radar. So I love that these two paths have crossed because I am intrigued by the fit.

McNeil-Warren has the size, length and playmaking ability to fill the void left by Jaquan Brisker — in fact, I believe EMW would be an upgrade at the position.
Don’t get me wrong. I like Jaquan Brisker. He had a nice four-year run with the Bears, beginning with a solid rookie season in 2022 and ending with arguably his best game as a pro in Chicago’s playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams at the end of the 2025 campaign. But if the Bears can draft his replacement, and have that replacement represent an immediate upgrade, then that is a tradeoff I will gladly make without thinking twice.

Emmanuel McNeil-Warren is one of the most interesting safety prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft, and is someone the Bears should take a deeper look at as they fill out their draft board.
The Toledo standout is coming off a stellar senior season for the Rockets, collecting second-team All-American honors and first-team All-MAC recognition in his final year on campus. EMW was all over the stat sheet as a senior with 77 total tackles, 5.5 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions (including a pick-six), five passes defended, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. That is the type of production that I can imagine Bears Defensive Coordiantor Dennis Allen would love to add to his unit.
And it’s not as if Emmanuel McNeil-Warren is some type of one-year wonder. Pro Football Focus has McNeil-Warren graded as college football’s best safety since the start of the 2024 season:

The Chicago Bears have other needs on the defense that might seem more pressing. That the team didn’t make notable upgrades at defensive end or along the interior defensive line positions suggests that the front office should consider drafting a defensive lineman with its first-round selection. Perhaps the Bears can find value in the trenches by drafting a player in that position group on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft. Remember, Chicago’s football team has two second-round picks (Nos. 57 and 60) and a third-rounder (No. 89) to play with when things get going during the Friday night portion of NFL Draft weekend.
