Highlighting swims that you might have missed today was Olivia Herron of Southern Illinois who swam to a 2:07.89 in the 200 breaststroke to earn a 13th place finish. Herron dropped 0.19 off her entry time of a 2:08.08 to move her way into scoring as she was the #21 seed.

Herron dropped half a second this season as she swam a 2:08.39 last year at 2025 NCAAs to make the ‘B’ final before finishing 15th in a 2:08.77. She broke her own Missouri Valley Conference record in the process as well.

Also posting a new lifetime best in the morning was Pitt’s Sydney Gring who swam to a 51.08 in the 100 backstroke to earn an 11th place finish. The junior had a strong season in the event as she came into the 2024-2025 season with a lifetime best 51.96. She was the #32 seed coming into today with a 51.53 entry time, and her strong prelims swim earned her six points for the Panthers.

Florida’s Anita Bottazzo had a busy morning, first making the ‘A’ final of the 200 breaststroke. Later in the session, Bottazzo swam to a 56.10 100 breaststroke split on Florida’s 400 medley relay. Bottazzo was tied for 2nd last night in the individual 100 breast with a 57.00 and has been as fast as 56.87 in the flat start event.

Melissa Nwakalor joined the program this season after transferring from Richmond and moved her way into scoring position this morning with a lifetime best 21.66 50 free for 14th. Her lifetime best coming into the day was a 21.79 that she swam at the Cavalier Invite. She notably did not race at ACCs.
