Cubs Lineup — After an off-day yesterday, the Cactus League Cubs are back in action tonight with a same-time double-header. There’s no TV for the Reds Game (where Matthew Boyd will be making his final spring start before Opening Day). But the A’s game, starting five minutes later, will be carried on Marquee.
Here’s a look at the Cubs lineup standing behind Matthew Boyd against the Reds in (let’s call it) Game 1.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
Pete Crow-Armstrong, CF Alex Bregman, 3B Ian Happ, LF Dansby Swanson, SS Carson Kelly, 1B Moises Ballesteros, C Matt Shaw, RF James Triantos, DH Jefferson Rojas, 2BWell, hello. There’s a lot going on here.
First, the WBC boys, PCA and Alex Bregman, are back and atop the Cubs lineup. But while I do think Bregman will bat second on Opening Day, PCA is not likely to be that high up, especially not leading off (that’ll almost certainly be Michael Busch).
Second, Carson Kelly is getting a little extra exposure at first base today, which is … a little odd and probably just because they needed a body there with the split game. But still. You’d think any non-Busch start for a lefty would go to Moises Ballesteros and any non-Busch start for a righty would be some combination of Matt Shaw or Miguel Amaya or Jonathan Long (or would be Tyler Austin, had he not gotten injured). I guess it doesn’t hurt to see what he’s got, but, uh … don’t hurt yourself out there, Carson.
Matt Shaw is out in right field tonight, with Seiya Suzuki still healing up from his WBC injury. And we are still enjoying Jefferson Rojas starts less than a week from Opening Day. Awesome. Good stuff. Go Cubs.

Given that it’s a split squad spring training game, I’m not sure there’s all that much to take away from this one. Kinda wish the first game was the televised one, though.
