Jack Sanborn, who played for the team from 2022 until 2024, is officially back in the fold.

One of the offseason themes for the Chicago Bears (to this point) has been a focus on bolstering the depth at every level of the defense. There have been multiple signings along the defensive line and the secondary. And now, Chicago’s football team adds to its collection of linebackers by bringing back a familiar face in Jack Sanborn.
Sanborn, 25, initially joined the Bears in 2022 as an undrafted free agent. A Lake Zurich native who played collegiately at the University of Wisconsin, Sanborn played 14 games as a rookie (made six starts) and contributed all over the stat sheet. He made 64 total tackles (50 solo), added two sacks, five tackles-for-loss, and three quarterback hits. Sanborn appeared primed to take over a full-time starting spot in Year 2 until the signings of T.J. Edwards and Tremaine Edmunds in free agency moved him back into a reserve role. Tough break, young fella.
After not being tendered a contract last offseason, Jack Sanborn followed former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus and joined the Dallas Cowboys. But after a brief stint (6 games, 5 starts) in Texas, Sanborn is back in Chicago. That feels right. And for whatever it’s worth, the timing is good for both the player and team. Bears linebackers T.J. Edwards and Noah Sewell will enter the 2026 campaign working their way back from season-ending injuries. So it makes sense for Chicago to bring someone like Sanborn back who has shown an ability to start in a pinch.
