SOUTH CAROLINA — The mother of Chili teen Brittanee Drexel is still trying to recover the assets of her daughter’s killer, Raymond Moody, over a year after a jury ruled that Moody must pay millions in damages.
That’s according to documents recently filed in Georgetown County Common Pleas Court. A jury ruled in February of 2025 that Moody must pay $200 million in actual damages and $500 million in punitive damages to Drexel’s mother for intentionally inflicting emotional distress.
Last week, Dawn Conley Pleckan filed a petition saying that the money remains unpaid and that Moody has assets that he hasn’t turned over. Conley said the court should seize Moody’s property in Georgetown County, South Carolina.
Moody has been serving his sentence since October 2022, after he pleaded guilty to killing Drexel while she was in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on a spring break trip. Investigators found Drexel’s remains 13 years later in a wooded area south of Myrtle Beach.
