ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The parolee who led state police on a chase last month, has been captured by the U.S. Marshals. The chase ended when David Robinson crashed into an RTS bus, causing it to hit a woman on the sidewalk. Robinson was released by a city court judge before parole could issue a detainer.

Robinson was found last night at a home on Maple Street in Rochester. U.S. Marshal Charles Salina shared what happened. “It took several minutes for the task force to ultimately find him on the second-floor attic in a small, confined closet,” said Salina.

“He was literally hiding underneath some clothes. He had a storage bin over him, and it was a very tight space. The task force officers took him into custody, and as they took him out, he also did have a wig on his head attempting to evade us.”

In court, Robinson showed up in a wheelchair and had a neck brace on. He pled not guilty to multiple charges including assault in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree, criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of unlawfully fleeing a police officer.

A judge set Robinson’s bail at $3 million cash and issued a no-contact order for the victim, Tiffany Brown, who remains in the hospital in satisfactory condition. A no-contact order was also issued for a Craig Young, though the prosecution did not comment on his relation to the case.

The prosecution argued that Robinson is a flight risk and originally wanted him to be held on no bail no release. But, if the judge felt like bail was necessary, prosecution asked for it to be set at $950k. The prosecution said he had previously signed himself out of the hospital against medical advice after being released from police custody.

The prosecution said he failed to turn himself in for over a month. The house were the U.S. Marshals found him, prosecution said was not his parole approved address.

Salina explained that the Marshals task force targets individuals wanted for skipping court, violating probation or parole, or being indicted. He noted that fugitives can be quite creative in their attempts to hide. “They’ll hide in all different locations in the house,” Salina said.

“We’ve caught them in ceilings. We’ve caught them in refrigerators. They’ll cut holes in the floor and put a carpet over it.”

The defense said Robinson has multiple injuries as a result of the crash from February including a broken foot and brain swelling.

Robinson’s next court date is set for June 3 at 9:30 a.m.
