The featured image in this post about Andrew Billings signing with the Arizona Cardinals is one of my favorites in my nine years running the show here in the Bleacher Nation football department. It encapsulates everything Billings did as a defender on Chicago’s defensive line. He could eat up blocks as easily as he could devour running backs coming out of the backfield. But now, Billings is taking his talents elsewhere.
NFL reporter Ari Meirov has the scoop on Andrew Billings getting signed by the Arizona Cardinals:

— Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) March 16, 2026REPORT: Arizona Cardinals are signing ex-Bears DT Andrew Billings
Andrew Billings spent the last three seasons eating up space in the middle of the Chicago Bears defensive line. He started 39 of the 42 games he appeared in over the course of those three years and played in both of Chicago’s playoff games. During his 42-game stint with the Bears, Billings finished with 71 total tackles (40 solo), 11 tackles-for-loss, 10 quarterback hits, two sacks, and a forced fumble. The numbers aren’t overly impressive, but racking up stats wasn’t necessarily his primary objective. Instead, Billings was an old-school space eater. It was a job I thought he did well.
Billings, who turned 31 earlier in March, joins a Cardinals team that is in a transitional phase. Arizona just hired a new head coach (ex-Rams Offensive Coordinator Mike LaFleur) and retained Nick Rallis to be the team’s defensive coordinator. If Billings is looking for a familiar face, he can look at the other side of the ball where he will find former Bears receivers Devin Duvernay and Ihmir Smith-Marsette, as well as Matt Pryor, who was once a starter on Chicago’s offensive line.
Andrew Billings was a nice find by Bears General Manager Ryan Poles. A mid-month signing in March 2023, Billings’ time in Chicago should serve as a reminder that you can still find useful players outside of that opening free agency push. That feels like something worth keeping in mind right now.
