ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 27-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was shot while sleeping in her apartment on Thorndale Terrace in February.
Sedrick Ellison is charged with assault, criminal possession of an assault weapon, and criminal possession of a weapon.
On Feb. 10, police responded to a home on Thorndale near Goler Alley and found a woman, 29, with a gunshot wound inside a home.

Police say through preliminary investigations, they learned the woman was sleeping in an upstairs apartment when Ellison shot an assault style rifle into the ceiling of the downstairs apartment, which went through the ceiling and hit the woman upstairs.
The victim was brought to Strong Memorial Hospital for serious injuries that were later deemed non-life threatening after emergency surgery, according to police.
Ellison was taken into custody Monday. He is being held at the Monroe County Jail pending arraignment.
