The life of a professional athlete is, I’m sure, wonderful and glamorous and rewarding and fulfilling in many ways. I am also sure that it is, for parents, probably a very challenging life. You spend half of your year or more living on the road or bouncing back and forth from home, and you do it all at an age when your kids are just figuring this life thing out.
So, throwing a coaching career thereafter on top of it has to be another exceptionally challenging layer to the work/family dynamic. I have a lot of respect not only for the players and coaches who make it work, but also for the spouses and children who do it, too.
Anyway, that’s a preamble to why I found this clip so heartwarming:
