A man killed last week by police in the parking garage of a Texas children’s hospital has been identified as a former security guard for Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett.
Dallas Police claim Diamon-Mazairre Robinson was armed on Wednesday, March 11, outside the Children’s Medical Center when he was killed during a standoff with SWAT officers.
The incident started around 11 p.m. as Dallas Police were investigating Robinson, 39, for an active arrest warrant.
Detectives followed him to the parking garage at Children’s Health, where the situation quickly escalated. Robinson barricaded himself inside a vehicle and refused to exit despite police commands. SWAT officers fired tear gas into the car in an attempt to remove Robinson from the vehicle.
Robinson then emerged with a gun. He allegedly pointed the firearm at police, who shot him in response. A SWAT doctor present as part of the response team attempted to revive Robinson, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have confirmed Robinson did not fire his weapon at law enforcement.
Robinson was allegedly wanted for impersonating an officer and was accused of using a number of aliases, including Mike King, to gain the trust of local law enforcement.
It is alleged that he lied about being a U.S. Capitol police officer to earn a spot on Crockett’s security detail.
He also allegedly said that he was in charge of several teams of security guards in and around the Dallas area that were stationed at churches and downtown Dallas hotels.
Robinson also allegedly used his faked police credentials to launch a website that provided cops with off-duty security jobs.
Robinson was reportedly paid as “Mike King” by Crockett’s office to provide security for the congresswoman as recently as last year, with a single $340 payment made.
It was unclear just how Robinson ended up working for Crockett.

Us Weekly reached out to the 44-year-old congresswoman’s office for comment but did not hear back at the time of publication.
Robinson reportedly had a history of arrests between 2009 and 2012, FOX 4 reported, including a number of busts for theft.
FOX 4 reports that Robinson pleaded guilty to all of the charges he faced and was only ordered to pay fines of less than $2,500 and agree to 10 years of probation.
Crockett recently lost the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate in Texas to state Rep. James Talarico, a long-time lawmaker in Austin.
The win for Talarico was a resounding one, despite Crockett having more national notoriety.
Talarico will now face either Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), the incumbent, or his primary challenger, the state’s attorney general, Ken Paxton. A May 26 runoff election is anticipated.
