2026 LAUSANNE SWIM CUP

Friday, March 13th – Sunday, March 15th Vaudoise Aréna, Lausanne, Switzerland LCM (50m) Meet Central SwimSwam Preview Day 1 Recap/Day 2 Recap Entries/Live Results Race Videos: Friday Saturday Sunday

The third and final day of the 2026 Lausanne Cup wrapped up at the Vaudoise Aréna with additional impressive performances seen on both the men’s and women’s sides.

26-year-old Mary-Sophie Harvey of Canada completed her campaign with a victory right off the bat in tonight’s women’s 100m butterfly final.

Harvey stopped the clock at a solid 58.21 to lead a trio of sub-minute swimmers, joined by France’s Marie Wattel and Italy’s Anita Gastaldi.

Wattel touched in 58.26 and Gastaldi rounded out the podium in 58.94.

Versatile Harvey’s lifetime best in this sprint remains at the 57.31 notched nearly two years ago to rank as the 6th-swiftest Canadian woman in history.

The men’s 100m fly final saw World Championships multi-gold medalist Maxime Grousset of France get it done for gold, producing a time of 51.15.

That held the advantage over Olympic medalist Noe Ponti of the host nation who settled for silver less than half a second back in 51.47. Frenchman Clement Secchi reaped bronze in 52.25.

Grousset already won the men’s 50m fly last night, with his outing of 22.78 establishing a new season-best and world-leading effort. His time in this longer event was just off the 50.95 he logged at January’s Pro Swim to rank 4th in the world at the moment.

Pauline Mahieu of France proved too quick to catch in the women’s 50m back, posting a gold medal-worthy result of 27.90, tying her 3rd best-ever performance.

She kept the field at bay tonight in the only time under the 28-second barrier, with Poland’s Adela Piskorska next to the wall in 28.42 followed by French swimmer Lou-Anne Guiton who hit 28.71 as the bronze medallist.

The reigning 100m back world record holder and Olympic gold medalist Thomas Ceccon of Italy secured the top spot in the 50m back for the men, delivering a swift in-season performance of 24.95.

That narrowly defeated Belgium’s Noah Verreth who turned in a time of 24.98 to put a new national record on the books. Verreth just became the first-ever man from his nation to go sub-25 seconds in this event, overtaking the 25.20 Stan Franckx established in 2024.

Bronze tonight went to Israel’s Tomer Shuster who touched in 25.00.

Ceccon and Verreth’s swims render the competitors just outside the list of top 10 athletes in the world this season.

Finally, Americans Patrick Sammon and Grant House doubled up on their 1-2 finish in the 200m free last night with the same results this evening in the 100m free.

The Arizona State training partners, whose group also includes Wattel, earned gold and silver with Sammon clocking a speedy 47.90 followed by House’s performance of 48.49. GBR’s Balint Ashton rounded out the podium in 49.61.

Sammon opened in 22.80 and closed in 25.10 en route to posting the 5th-fastest time of his career, one which boasts a lifetime best of 47.47 from the 2025 U.S. Championships. He now takes over slot #5 in the season’s world rankings and is the #2 American with Jack Alexy ahead of him. Alexy turned in a time of 47.40 last December to rank 3rd in the world at the moment.

Additional Notes

Italy’s Tommaso Griffante grabbed the men’s 1500m freestyle gold in a mark of 15:14.30. That held off Frenchmen Emile Vincent and Damien Joly, with the former touching in 15:19.54 to the latter’s 15:26.09. Lisa Angiolini doubled up on her 100m breaststroke victory from last night with a win in the 100m distance. The 30-year-old Italian veteran stopped the clock at 2:23.90 in essentially the one-woman race, with countrymate Anna Pirovano next to the wall in 2:27.44. Swiss swimmer Kay-Lyn Loehr rounded out the podium in 2:27.85. The men’s 200m breast saw Turkish athlete Kerem Ilyem claim the gold ahead of Dutch Olympic medalist Caspar Corbeau. Ilyem produced a mark of 2:10.21 and Corbeau was right behind in 2:10.44. Swiss swimmer Antoine Viquerat also landed on the podium, hitting 2:13.21 for bronze. Wattel was back in the water to contest the women’s 100m free, where the Olympian found success in 54.17. Belgium’s Florine Gaspard registered 54.40 and Sweden’s Sofia Astedt notched 54.99 to place 3rd overall.
