A 17-year-old was shot and killed while he was driving on Chicago’s Far North Side Saturday night.

According to Chicago police, the teen was driving in the 6100 block of North Kimball at approximately 10:30 p.m. Saturday when a person in a red vehicle fired shots at him.

Police say the teen was shot in the face and torso, and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The teen was identified as 17-year-old Sergio Mejia, and his death is being investigated as a homicide.

Area Five detectives are investigating, and no further information was immediately available.
