POINT LOMA – Did you hear the one about … the Rotary Club of Point Loma’s 23rd annual Comedy Night? No joke – it’s on March 20.
Doors, and the bar, open at 6 p.m. with the main show starting at 8 p.m. at the United Portuguese S.E.S. Hall, 2818 Avenida de Portugal.
“We at Point Loma Rotary Club view this event as a double whammy for Point Loma,” said Debra Gookin, service director for the club. “The event is a gift of fun and happiness to our community. The proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorship go right back into the community in the form of service projects for youth, seniors, military families and more.”
Tony Calabrese, who’s been performing comedy since 1995, specializing in corporate events and charity auctions, shared the styles of the 2026 comedians. He described them as offering “very different comedic flavors.”
Frances Dilorinzo, he said, brings “a big, international ‘pro’ energy — smart, surprising, and fearless — mixing sharp observations with sudden physical punchlines that can flip the room in a heartbeat.”
Chris Angell has “clean, tight, relatable stand-up with an improv brain underneath it.” He’s a “married dad of twins who turns midlife chaos into precision jokes about aging, marriage, and modern life’s weird little habits.”
Georgia Kelley is “the warm, lovable storyteller with polished punchlines — uplifting, approachable and built for a crowd that wants to laugh together.”
As for Calabrese, a bank president turned comedian, his comedic angle focuses on marriage, family, the corporate world and the very real struggle of staying in shape. He has performed at The Comedy Store, The Madhouse Comedy Club, The Improv, Flappers, The Mic Drop and more.
At this year’s Comedy Night, early birds will have time to peruse auction items and put in bids or buy raffle tickets. A video loop will highlight Point Loma Rotary Club projects and sponsors. The menu will feature tacos and hamburgers.
