The Men’s Hundred entered a new era on Thursday as the competition held its first-ever player auction in London. Conducted at Piccadilly Lights in central London, the auction was used for the first time since the tournament’s inception. With four IPL franchise owners now holding stakes in Hundred teams, there was an excitement among the Indian audience as well.
Young England all-rounder James Coles emerged as the most expensive player of the auction after London Spirit secured his services for £390,000. Last season’s MVP Jordan Cox also attracted heavy interest before Welsh Fire snapped him up for £300,000. Among overseas players, South Africa’s Aiden Markram commanded the highest price, joining Manchester Super Giants for £200,000, while David Miller was the first international player sold when Southern Brave picked him up early in the auction.
One of the talking points ahead of the auction was whether Indian-owned teams would bid for Pakistani cricketers. That question was quickly answered when Sunrisers Leeds signed mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed for £190,000, making him the first Pakistan player to join an Indian-owned franchise in the Hundred. Birmingham Phoenix had earlier secured Usman Tariq, another Pakistan player, for £140,000.
Several prominent international names found teams, including Finn Allen, Ryan Rickelton and Matt Henry, while others such as Sikandar Raza, Lungi Ngidi and Wanindu Hasaranga surprisingly went unsold. Below are the confirmed squads for all eight teams after the 2026 Hundred auction.
