Although the meeting appeared empty, there has been significant opposition. The town assessor, responsible for reassessments in Lima, Avon, and Caledonia, was unavailable for comment due to her busy schedule.
Caledonia Town Supervisor Dan Pangrazio said, “You’re more than welcome to do the informal. And then if you’re still not satisfied of what went on in the informal, I encourage you to go to the assessment review Board where you can, talk to them. And then last case that if you’re still not happy, you can take the town to court.”
Homeowners unhappy with their reassessment can schedule an informal meeting with the town assessor to present evidence against the new valuation. This must be done before April 3.
According to census data, the 106 challenges in Caledonia represent nearly 8 percent of homeowners, highlighting the level of concern among residents.
