ROCHESTER, N.Y. — News10NBC is highlighting more winners of February’s Do the Right Thing awards.
Xovian Rosario, a second grader at Walt Disney Elementary School in Gates, is being honored for stepping up and befriending a new student in his class. His teachers say he sets an example for his classmates.
Gracie Tillinghast, a senior at Bishop Kearney, was nominated by her grandmother for helping the community. Gracie is the president of her school’s Best Buddies group, which promotes inclusion between people with and without disabilities.
Bobby Scherzi, a senior at the Aquinas Institute, was nominated by his mom after she happened to see a Facebook post highlighting his generosity. Bobby helped to pay for a woman’s ice cream when she went to pay, but realized she didn’t have any money. The woman thanked him on social media, and the post went viral. The Rochester Police Department has held the Do the Right Thing awards since 1995. The next winners will be announced on May 7, the final awards of the school year.
Any student in grades K-12 in a Monroe County school is eligible for a nomination for the Do the Right Thing award. The good deed must have occurred within one year of the nomination.
