The next 12 months for the Indian team seem to be jam-packed. So much so, they might not have enough break in between. The players have just completed the T20 World Cup 2026, and head into the IPL 2026 from March 28, which will run until May 31. And then post then, the long calendar will start once again.
As per a report in Cricbuzz, the team is scheduled to play Sri Lanka in a couple of Tests in July-August, but then three more T20Is might be added to the roster. It seems that the BCCI is considering a request from the SLC, for a fundraiser for Sri Lanka’s flood relief. The T20Is are expected to precede the Test series.
In fact, before that, the Indian team will travel to England for ODI and T20I series between July 1 and 19, with possibly a short detour to Ireland.
“Discussions are underway,” said a source. Not to forget, in June will be the home series against Afghanistan, where they will play a Test and three ODIs, between June 6 and 20. IN September, there will be a six match-series against Bangladesh, which will be subject to clearance, given political tensions between two nations.
Nothing is finalised, but it is to be played out in September as well. This will be close to the West Indies home series, where they play three ODIs and five T20Is. In October, also the Asian Games is scheduled, where Team India will be expected to defend their title. Simultaneously, the WI ODIs will be running.
Post that, India will reach New Zealand for a full-fledged series on October 18. There, the number of ODIs seems to have been increased from 3 to 5, given the upcoming ODI World Cup next year. Come December, when India come back, they will face Sri Lanka, in three ODIs and as many T20Is at home. Early next year will be the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, before the IPL 2027 in March 2027.
